The booking information states whether children bring a packed lunch, which refreshments the club provides and whether cooking is part of the programme. Do not assume a meal or snack is included unless confirmed. Drinking water is available throughout attendance.

Parents tell us about allergies, intolerances, dietary needs and any emergency action plan before the session. Staff confirm ingredients and relevant allergen information for food they provide and check packaging each time; recipes and suppliers may change. We retain ingredient information for cooking activities and prevent sharing of food where this creates risk.

We agree practical precautions with each family, including suitable alternatives, preparation and serving arrangements, storage, cross-contact controls and emergency medicines. Staff who prepare or serve food receive training appropriate to their tasks. Children wash hands before food activities, equipment and surfaces are cleaned, and food is stored and transported safely.

We may restrict particular foods following risk assessment and tell all families clearly. We do not promise a completely allergen-free environment or rely on a no-nuts notice as our sole control. We must consider other allergens and possible contamination too.

Children eat under appropriate supervision with age-suitable food and seating. Staff do not pressure children to eat or use food as punishment. Suspected allergic reactions follow the child’s plan and first-aid procedure, with urgent emergency help when required. Record the incident, preserve packaging where useful and review controls before providing the food again.
