We welcome enquiries from children with disabilities, special educational needs, medical needs and different communication or cultural needs. We plan accessibility in advance and assess support individually. A diagnosis, use of medication, language difference or need for assistance is not an automatic reason to refuse a place.
Before attendance we discuss the child’s strengths, preferences, communication, mobility, sensory needs, health, toileting and any known risks with the family and, where appropriate, the child. With a lawful basis and suitable authority, we may seek focused advice from school or a professional. We ask only for information relevant to support and safety.
We consider adjustments to routines, equipment, staffing, activities, communication, environment and collection arrangements. The agreed plan identifies what we will do, responsible staff, any relevant training, emergency action and a review date. We do not charge a family for adjustments that we are legally required to make.
A parent-arranged support worker may be part of an agreed plan, but bringing a nanny or paying for one-to-one support is not a blanket condition for disabled children. We clarify that person’s role, relevant suitability checks, confidentiality and supervision. Their presence does not remove the club’s own duties.
If a proposed activity cannot be made suitable through reasonable adjustments, we explain the specific reasons, consider alternatives and review with the family. Decisions consider the actual risks and available resources, not stereotypes. Where attendance cannot proceed, the director reviews the assessment, provides written reasons and the complaints route, and considers refunds fairly. Agreed trial attendance is supportive and reviewed openly; it is not a substitute for the adjustment assessment.
Children are protected from discrimination, bullying and humiliation. Behaviour linked to disability or distress is considered under the support plan. Staff receive the information and training they need, with sensitive details shared only on a need-to-know basis. We review support whenever needs, activities or circumstances change.
